Here is a kitty who lives at the home of friends of mine who just gave me some 3.5" thick polyisocyanurate insulation (R value = 6.5 per inch!).  They had gotten lots of pieces of it for free, years ago when they were insulating her studio building, and the leftovers have survived just fine underneath on the ground!  I think we can almost do the whole floor insulation, cutting pieces and fitting them into the bays on the trailer, +/- 2'x8'. I love finding a use for something that is sort of detritus swirling in an eddy in the stream of life. And also I love that I can think of these friends when I am sitting snugly in my tiny house, warmer because of their leftover insulation.   Maybe even as cozy as Benny in his basket.

  1. I love that you are recording the rich provenance of your TH! I looked up the word (to be sure I was remembering the meaning correctly), and here's the definition:
"Provenance, from the French provenir, 'to come from', refers to the chronology of the ownership, custody or location of a[n]... object.[1] The term was originally mostly used in relation to works of art, but is now used in similar senses in a wide range of fields, including archaeology, paleontology, archives, manuscripts, printed books, and science and computing. The primary purpose of tracing the provenance of an object or entity is normally to provide contextual and circumstantial evidence for its original production or discovery, by establishing, as far as practicable, its later history, especially the sequences of its formal ownership, custody, and places of storage..." Also, Laur, it occurred to me after writing this first sentence, that if you decided to refer to your tiny house as a tiny freedom house, or tiny freeing house, or something similar, it would have the same initials as your dear old dad. xo

Thank you for commenting on my blog. I think this message is for anyone who comments, to let you know, in my case, that there is no knowing when, if, or how I may respond directly to your message!! To quote a famous wizard; "I can't come back! I don't know how it works!" And a famous poet, "We walk backwards into the future." Anyway, I have a feeling this thing is going to grow on me, so we'll be in touch, eventually. Thank you again.
