Here is a picture of the two small shutters 17.5"x15.5" which were originally for a third floor half-fan window at Machamux.  Probably from the 1920s or something, certainly not from the original foursquare house circa 1782.

Today I continued working on arranging to have the 8'x14' no-porch trailer dropped off near me.  Depending on the weight of the trailer, I think I can have it dropped off at my long-time car mechanic's shop.  Then the wheels may be installed there and if we get confused about getting the wiring hooked up for brakes and brakelights, they can come to our rescue (for a fee!).

Yipes!  Time really gets away from you when you are doing 8000 things every second.  More news, but here is my photo of the first two windows, purchased at Brad's Bargains in Cailfornia, KY, located in the old A.J.Jolly Elementary School on Route 8.  A fun afternoon of scrounging, and met an all-white cat named Spot (hee-hee).  Sorry not to have a photo of Spot, but here are the windows:

Inside view of 43"x48" window for stern "windowseat" or "sunroom" area.
 Outside view of same

Outside view of 24"x36" window which will probably go aft of the entry door on the starboard side, kind of over the wheelwell.

Inside view of same.  Yes, one window is green and one white, but I feel confident that I can manage the aesthetics at a future date, and they are both low-e, double pane, double hung and great bargains -- thanks, Brad!   Cheers all!

This end (the STERN!) will have the big 43"x48" double window, each part is double-hung, and low-e. So I can open top or bottom or both, on both sides...
Two views of the fome-core model as such.  Works in progress, but shows dormers -- yippee!  There will be 4  17"x40" windows up there, two on each side, kind of high up near the eaves.

Here's Kyle salvaging Expanded Polystyrene Rigid Foam Insulation from Sheena's shed, possibly to be used for the floor of the trailer.
What we think may have been the original front door of Machamux (circa 1782), including lockset probably made in England, being transported from storage to the tiny house building site.

Here is a kitty who lives at the home of friends of mine who just gave me some 3.5" thick polyisocyanurate insulation (R value = 6.5 per inch!).  They had gotten lots of pieces of it for free, years ago when they were insulating her studio building, and the leftovers have survived just fine underneath on the ground!  I think we can almost do the whole floor insulation, cutting pieces and fitting them into the bays on the trailer, +/- 2'x8'. I love finding a use for something that is sort of detritus swirling in an eddy in the stream of life. And also I love that I can think of these friends when I am sitting snugly in my tiny house, warmer because of their leftover insulation.   Maybe even as cozy as Benny in his basket.

Origins

An early influence on my wishing to build a tiny house on wheels...plastic gypsy wagon which really rolled, hitch and horse gone now, but memories remain. Seeing it still stimulates my sense of adventure!

One of my favorite children's books, making being a free spirit and a sea-lover just fine! That's all for today; I am going to look under a friend's studio for possible trailer bed insulation, free!

16 September 02013 Monday

Okay, this is just the beginning of my blog.  Pretty soon I will post a picture of my tiny house model.  Today's triumph is (I trust) simply posting something successfully.  Buenas Noches.
